The Hall Heritage Centre's annual address will be presented this year by Mark Butz. The address will be at the Centre on Thursday 28th August at 11.30 am.

Mark Butz is an environmental science graduate, emphasising earth sciences and
ecology, which he sees as natural history made visible at or near the surface. In
his half century of professional work he has also brought into play his lifelong
interest in human history, seeking a landscape literacy that can inspire new
perceptions of place, story and heritage value.

The tile of his talk is 'Towards a richer picture: Landscape literacy bringing heritage stories to life'

'We would like to think that the heritage stories we tell are building new understandings
and encouraging people to care enough about heritage to advocate for, and participate
in, protection and presentation of places and objects. This calls for a richer picture that
interweaves environmental, First Nations and post-colonial stories, to reframe the
relationship between humans and the environment'.

All Welcome. To be followed by a light lunch
