Mark Butz delivered the Centre's annual address on Thursday 28th August to a large and appreciative audience. The initial address, to the foundation meeting of the Friends of Hall School Museum, was delivered in 2011 by Dr Malcolm Beazley - who was in attendance for Mark's address.

Mark's subject was 'Towards a richer picture. Landscape literacy bringing heritage stories to life'. It was thoughtful and challenging presentation, inviting a rethink about the nature and prospects for 'heritage'. Mark shared his well developed concept of 'landscape literacy', well exemplified in his large portfolio of heritage projects. He has carried out project work relating to a host of places, including Church Rock Valley, the Majura House precinct, the Canberra city railway, Blundells Flat, and the Brindabella eucalyptus distillery. He is the author of a fascinating 'sampler' title 'Tales from two cities' - Canberra and Queanbeyan over 200 years.

We are pleased to see that our annual address is becoming institutionalised - including a fine lunch to follow! This years was probably the largest audience that we have had. Thank you Mark, and all who joined us for the occasion!
