Honorary Curator Alastair Crombie and Gillespie Collection Curator Ken Heffernan have just paid a visit to the Serbian Orthodox Church, Forrest, a Canberra treasure for its brilliant wall and ceiling murals. This auspicious place was the setting for the latest grant awarding ceremony of ACT Heritage.

Heritage Minister Rebecca Vassarotti described this annual ceremony as one of her most enjoyable duties. She then present thirteen awards to a broad range of individuals, groups and organisations, the total awarded being $206,500.

The grant awarded to the Centre ($3,225) was to support two publications - a facsimile reprint of Lyall Gillespie's 'Ginninderra. Forerunner to Canberra', and publication of the booklet on the life and times of Lyall produced in association with the Gillespie exhibition (now showing!). Ken Heffernan prepared the applications and will manage the project. He is photographed here with the Minister.
