Rod and Judy are pillars of the Wallaroo community – and have been for almost 40 years. Now they are Yass Valley Council's Senior Citizens of the Year!

Together, they restored the historic 'Allwood Cottage' at great time and personal expense and were successful in obtaining grants from Council. The Cottage is now one of the best examples in NSW of a fully restored slab cottage. It is heritage listed and Rod and Judy are in the process of having discussions with the National Trust. They host visitors free of charge and work to educate the community of the history about the area and the people who lived there.

Rod runs a free computing program for seniors in Hall as well as community information sessions.

Judy constantly advocates on community issues, such as working to improve access to hospital in the home for Wallaroo/Spring Range, organising Indian Myna reduction advice sessions, Clean Up Australia Day and working with Council to decrease illegal dumping in the area. Judy is also a founding and key member of the Hall School Museum and Heritage Centre.

Both are life members of the Wallaroo Bush Fire Brigade, members of the Hall Progress Association and actively organise events to help residents of the Wallaroo and Spring Range Residents' Groups.

Congratulations, Rod and Judy.
