'Hall Village and District 1913'
28 March 2013
A reminder of the special 'Hall Village and District 1913' exhibition that will be held at the Hall Primary School on 13-14 April 2013 from 10am to 4pm each day. The exhibition will be part of the 2013 ACT Heritage Festival and the Canberra 100 celebrations.
The exhibition has been created around a walk along Victoria Street as it was in 1913, with photos and artifacts from the various businesses that were there at the time.
We are delighted to have Dr David Headon, History and Heritage Advisor to the Centenary of Canberra, officially opening the Exhibition at 10.00am on Saturday 13th April. You are warmly invoted to attend.
In addition to the '1913' Exhibition, this will be another opportunity to view the 2012 exhibition on 'Bush schools of the Hall District', and the Hall School Museum, both of which will be open over the weekend.
There will also be quite a number of other attractions over the weekend, including:
- A mapping display of the first schools in the Federal Capital Territory;
- Display of early trades by Hall Mens Shed;
- Old vehicles from the Hall Collectors' Club;
- Face painting and other activities for children;
- Sausage sizzle by the Rotary Club of Hall;
- Quilting and weaving displays
and other activities too numerous to mention!
Our photo shows a section of the Exhibition featuring the Hall Premier Store. Mural created by Shaun Robson. A set of postcards, including this image, is being produced for sale at the Exhibition.
