Narrangullen [1943 - 1943]
Under development:
Narrangullen in County Cowley is situated on the southern end of what is now Lake Burrinjuck on the road between Yass and Wee Jasper.
It is classed as very productive agricultural land and the holding known as Narrangullen was originally settled by William Riley, who took up the run in 1831. When he died tragically in 1836, the property passed to his son and then on to the Lockyer and Potter families. The Reids bought Narrangullen in the 1930's and developed it into the outstanding property of later years.
Narrangullen had a series of subsidised and private schools operating at the homestead and by the early thirties, a school operated on the closed-in verandah of the cottage occupied by John and Canice
Archer. Children from the property attended the school and Canice Archer was the teacher. She also taught at the nearby Mullion property, Bonnieville, owned by the Ledgers.
Narrangullen was registered as a Provisional School and operated from January to December 1943.
