Gillespie Exhibition launch
17 April 2024
On Sunday 14 April large crowd attended the official naming of the Gillespie building and the launch of the Exhibition - 'The journey of Lyall Gillespie'. The exhibition was launched by Dr Roslyn Russell with a fine speech, detailing Lyall's life and work, to an audience that included many members of the extended Gillespie family.
The exhibition was curated by Dr Ken Heffernan, who has been Curator of the GIllespie Collection since it was put under our care in 2015. In introducing Dr Russell, Ken summarised the the Centre's ongoing commitment to cataloguing, conserving and making the collection available as a prime assett for exploring the history and heritage of Canberra, and particularly historic Ginninderra.
The launch occasion was accompanied by a fine light lunch and a generous dose of sunshine. The exhibition will be open for six months or so. Group visits are especially welcome.
