Val Wiseman's Memorial Garden
23 September 2018
On Thursday 20th September Greening Australia staff and several volunteers from the Centre managed to plant about 200 native ground covers and small and medium shrubs to create what will become a perfect memorial to Val Wiseman. Val was a valued volunteer over many years, and left a substantial contribution to the Centre web she passed away in March this year. Val also had a long association with Greening Australia and was most at home when she was connecting with nature. Her husband, John, planted the final shrub just in front of the Palmer Street entrance and a temporary plaque is in place, to be replaced by a permanent inscription in the near future. Greening Australia left a rather large pile of eucalypt mulch which we can use at our leisure for the remaining garden beds as needed.
On Thursday, 4th October, we will be dedicating our own small memorial at 11.30, along with representatives from the Men's Shed.
