Minister Mick Gentleman launches Ginninderra exhibition
2 April 2016
The Museum's latest exhibition - 'Rediscovering Ginninderra' - was officially opened by Minister for Heritage, Mick Gentleman today. The Minister arrive in good time for a preview of the exhibition, and a 'walk through' visit to all of the other displays.
The launch was attended by around 80 or so, and began, as usual, with ringing of the school bell, followed by 'God Save the King!' and raising the flag. The flag was raised by junior 'Friend of the Museum, Toby Palethorpe . Honorary Curator Phil Robson welcomed and introduced the minister, giving some background to the work we have been going on Ginninderra, while Alastair Crombie thanked the Minister for choosing to come out to Hall at the very start of the annual ACT and District Heritage Festival. It was very pleasing, as always, that descendants of a number of pioneer families were in the audience.
Our photo shows Vicki Coleman - artistic coordinator of the 'Ginninderra models' project - with the Minister, standing behind the Ginninderra blacksmiths shop.
