The 'Friends of Hall School Museum' have done it again!
The 'On Our Selections' exhibition opening weekend was a great success.
The Minister for Environment & Sustainable Development Simon Corbell formally launched the exhibition on Saturday 12 April. The exhibition was created as part of the 2014 Canberra & Region Heritage Festival.
Following the launch was a chance to enjoy morning tea with home made damper covered in 'Cockies Joy' served by the 'Friends'.
Many interested visitors then proceeded to take in the displays presented in a themed manner outlining the lives of the pioneer families who came to the Hall district from the other side of the world to make a new life. Descendants from these pioneer families were present at the exhibition which gave an important perspective to the exhibition. One of these was Patsy Graham, the great granddaughter of Julia Webb aka 'Judy the Great'.
Many favourable comments were received from the visitors on the professionalism of the displays and the amount of work done by the Museum volunteers.
Many thanks to ACT Heritage for their support and the families that loaned precious and unique artefacts that were featured in the displays.
