Obituary - Jane Smith
A link with the past was broken by the death recently of Mrs. Ellis Smith, of Hall, Federal Capi-tal Territory. Mrs. Smith has lived for very many years in the district, and had been, throughout her life, a pillar of strength to the Methodist Church. She saw pioneering days in Wallaroo. Later she was closely associated with the church at Parkwood and Weetangera. Subsequently she linked up with the Wattle Park Church. For a number of years she conducted a fellowship class in her own home, the influence of which is still far reaching. Her earnest Christian life, and firm faith in Christ, were always an inspiration to those who came into contact with her. Even long years of ill-health did not prevent her from exercising a winsome Christian inuflence [sic]. Her husband, five daughters and three sons mourn their loss. The interment was made in the Weetan-gera cemetery, and the funeral was very largely at-tended. The service was conducted by the Rev. Ellis Thomas, who was assisted by the Rev. E. L. Vercoe, B.A. Dr. E. Stanley Jones is in South America on an evangelistic' tour of student centres.
